This was a self directed project I undertook.

The brief was part of a competition for the Penguin Random House UK Design Award 2017/18. It was done for the Children's Cover Award, which required a cover to be redesigned for 'Emil and the Detectives' by Erich Kästner.

The inspiration came from the train segment of the story and made use of a minimalistic style in my illustrations in order to go with the mystery theme of the story.

This project was part of a University Project themed on Wes Anderson movies.

I was given a single quote and a random Typeface and tasked with creating poster using only typography.

I was given ‘Hoefler Text’ - which I customised to create a visually appealing design.

These are a series of beer label designs I created for a live university project for Liquid Mountain Brewing co - A new and local rising craft beer company which were aiming to compete with larger Scottish companies, such as ‘Brewdog’ who are well established and originate from the North East of Scotland.

The brief gave me an idea of what it is like to work with real clients and exposed me to the good and challenging sides of having a real client, which I feel will really help me in the future.

I therefore made my designs match the name of each individual beer, as this was one of the most important specifications from the client.

The brief was fairly restricting, as my designs had to fit into the provided template, with the logo already taking up a rather prominent area of the design.

This was done whilst studying abroad in Germany under the Erasmus+ programme.

As part of our class 'How to look at it' with Bernhard Garbert, we organised and ran our own exhibition. This was also a rather fun and unique experience to me, as it was something I had never done before. We each had to produce our own piece of work to feature in the exhibition, and it had to have a common theme of ‘connecting places’.

I therefore decided upon the idea of capturing iconic places in Hannover with distinctive shapes and colours found in the area. This idea then developed into my ‘pixelated places’ piece, where I edited photographs and turned them into images composing of large pixel squares.

The theory behind this idea was to show my perspective of visiting new and foreign places in the city and how they often blend into each other in my memory, as we visit so many new places whilst studying in a new country. I also wanted to try and show how a sense of place is often lost when in a foreign and different place.

I really enjoyed being a part of this exhibition, and loved seeing everyone produce and set up their work. The opening night was a new experience for me also and was very fun. Seeing everyone come together in one place and so many guests, who all came to see work we produced. It really was a great experience.

This was a competition project that I completed for the annual YCN competition.

It was done for UK Greetings, who are Gift Wrap and Greetings Card company, looking for a new range to add to their collection.

I created several Gift Wrap Designs, which have all been inspired by patterns found in nature - such as trees and plants.

I was inspired heavily by the work of 'Brian Alfred' and 'Sophy Rickets' and also the California based architects 'Oyler Wu', as their work is rather geometric and is often influenced by natural forms.

My submission to the annual YCN (You Can Now) live brief and competition.

The brief was for a promotional piece to be designed in order to promote Fedrigoni paper and their new store that was opening.

I therefore decided to design and create a minimalistic and stylish sample box that used no ink in its production - as it was laser cut entirely

Inside, I crafted a leaflet and a miniature calendar and various patterned sample cards that could be assembled like a jigsaw.

This was my editorial project that I undertook - to design a concept of a pull-out extract leaflet to promote tourism in Scotland.

It would be found in larger magazines such as 'Scottish Field' and 'National Geographic'.

These are variety of prints and post cards to be sold in packs at markets and craft fairs. The lettering was done by hand and the patterns designed digitally.
The aim was to create something that was visually appealing and would draw people in to look at it. They were completed as a self directed project and I am happy with how they turned out.

I am rather interested in the art of hand lettering, and so have drawn some with an ink and brush. This was to create a unique and hand crafted appearance. The designs were then scanned into the computer, where I placed it on a background to create a postcard.
